Project: Kitchen and 2 bathroom renovation.
The goal in the kitchen design was to give the kitchen a whiter, brighter, more modern feel, while adding some additional appliances. The traditional cabinets were replaced with a beautiful high gloss white acrylic that helped reflect the light and give the space a clean, modern look. The kitchen maintained most of its original layout, although the fridge wall grew by 30” which allowed us to add a wine fridge, steamer, built in microwave and wall oven into a pantry at the end of the fridge wall. Caesarstone Grey Symphony counters are complemented by a clean and modern random strip stainless backsplash. Flooring from entry to entire kitchen and eating area was replaced with 18” x 36” white porcelain tiles. We also installed a heated floor to take the chill out of winter mornings on the cold tile. In addition, we framed in a pocket door between the kitchen and dining area so that the clients can easily move between rooms without having the awkward swinging door in the way.
The ensuite bath saw an amazing transformation. The existing bath had a separate tub, a separate small shower, a single sink vanity and virtually no storage. The space was redesigned to remove the tub, add a large shower, a full height pantry, and an 8’ wall to wall vanity with 2 sinks. Using a linear drain in the shower allowed us to install a Pure White Caesarstone quartz slab shower floor around the drain. We used the same Caesarstone quartz colour on the shower floor, skirt, bench and curb. The rest of the shower was covered with a matte white subway tile to give the shower a clean, minimalist, ultra modern look. The impact is striking. All cabinetry is high gloss grey to contrast the white shower. Italian fixtures and heated floors finish off the premium, spa like feel of this bathroom. The end result is amazing: a big, practical shower with a bench, a vanity 3x the size of the original, a full height pantry for lots of storage, and bright LED lighting throughout.
The main bath saw the old tub give way to a new shower in its place, complete with Caesarstone topped shower bench and a modern linear drain. The linear drain allowed us to use the same large format tiles throughout the entire bathroom. A custom vanity and Caesarstone Calcutta quartz counter replaced the old vanity in the same location. The custom framed mirror and a storage cabinet above the toilet were produced in the same material as the vanity to keep the simplicity and consistency of materials in the room. Italian fixtures and heated floors compliment the high end finishes in the bathroom. The consistency of materials and the simple grey and white colour scheme really gives the bathroom a calm clean feel.
Cool fact: The staff at the condo made a point to mention to our client that METROPOLITAN was the ‘most professional contractors that they’ve ever had in the building’.
